The NVSHL final pairing is set, defending champion Riverside will meet number one seed Briar Woods in a all Ashburn final.

Last night at the Ashburn Ice house two great games took place. In the opener, defending champion Riverside, led by a first line of Darnell, Adra, Gnatek, solid defense with Donnelly, Brady, Gehrt, Lasseigne and tremendous goaltending by Aiden Hopewell, defeated Battlefield 3-2.  Forward Aidan Wiseman and goalie Daniel Daggett stoodout for Battlefield in a game that could have gone either way.  In the nightcap, Yorktown jump on number one seed Briar Woods 2-0 early.  Briar Woods Captain Mikey Winter responded with a great individual effort to cut the lead in half.  Connor Hall scored at the end of second period to tie the game.  The third period went back and forth with both teams having scoring opportunties, but Briar Woods got the big goal with less than three minutes remaining by Assistant Captain Jack Courtney from a scramble in front of the net.  Briar Woods would add two empty net goals to make the final 5-2.

The Semifinals are set for Wednesday night.  At Reston, Yorktown dominated Mclean 7-1 and Battlefield crushed Stone Bridge 11-2.  At Ashburn, Riverside downed Broad Run in a well played game 2-1.  Number one Briar Woods was too much for Langley 9-0.  This sets up the semifinals for Wednesday night, in the first game starting at 7:40, defending Champion Riverside (3) will face Battlefield (2).  In the nightcap, Yorktown (5) will play number one seed Briar Woods.
