Langley wins first ever NVSHL Championship

The Langley Saxons claimed thier first ever NVSHL Championship in front of a capacity crowd last night at the Ashburn Ice House with a 4-2 win over Briar Woods.  Langley was led by the solid goaltending of First Team All-State Goalie, Max Campbell.  Despite being outshot in the game 33-14, Campbell was solid once again as he was the backbone of a great team effort by Langley.

The Langley offense was led by Christian Tschampel, who was a dominant force on the ice throughout the game.  Congradulations to Coach Patrick Keough on a great team performance.

The All-State Team was announced before the game and the following players received the honors:

Defense:  Jacob Roteman  Fauquier/Highlands
Forward:  Mark Sangster  Rock Ridge/Heritage

Forward:  Ryan Battles Briar Woods

The NVSHL Varsity Playoff seedings are the following:
1.   Chantilly  9-1-0
2.   Stone Bridge 7-3-0  (35 total Penalties)
3.   Madison 7-3-0  (45 total Penalties) 
4.   Battlefield 6-2-2
5.   Yorktown 8-1-1
6.   Briar Woods  6-3-1
7.   Langley 5-3-2 (35 total Penalties)
8.   Broad Run 5-3-2 (43 total Penalties)
9.   McLean 4-5-1 (beat Oakton HTH)
10. Oakton 4-5-1
11.  Riverside 3-4-3
12.  Freedom 4-6-0

Favorites hold serve in first round. Yorktown wins in a shootout 5-4.  Langley rolls past Oakton 6-1. Briar Woods beats Riverside 5-1. Broad Run beats McLean in a wild one, 7-4.

                                                                                                                 The Semifinals are set.  Briar Woods upsets Madison 4-0. Number 1 seed Chantilly look dominant with a 6-3 win over Broad Run. In the most exciting game of the night, Battlefield beats Yorktown in OT 2-1. In the final game, Langley led by a solid defense and great goaltending, beats Stonebridge 3-1.    .

Langley upset number one Chantilly 3-2 in a very close game. Once again Langley was led by a solid defense and the tremendous goaltending of Max Campbell. In the nightcap, Briar Woods led by two goals from Ryan Battles upset fourth seed Battlefield in a very even game that could have went either way.
